Hello members!

Spring is the most wonderful season in the horizon, with beautiful flowers blooming and their scent filling the air in our surroundings. It is also the beginning of a new year and new undertakings.

Let me reminisce an important achievement from the previous months. The revival of our cultural heritage through arts, music and folk dancing was displayed through the 2nd Annual Philippine Cultural Heritage Festival. It was a successful performance of our Fil-Am dancers through the chairmanship, choreography and ingenious ideas of Jun & Helen Cayetano wherein our folk dancers were able to emulate and perpetuate our culture to the community.

Our scholarship award is forthcoming! This program gives our high school graduates an incentive, motivation and hope for success. It is also an award for the unrelenting dedication of our deserving folk dancers who have spent their time and effort in propagating the Philippine culture through folk dancing.  This is a way to teach and nurture them the value of education and encourage them to become leaders of the next generation to come.

To the graduating high school and college students, congratulations and accept  our best wishes for a job well done. May you be successful in your future endeavors.

The objectives and visions of our association is the monument that chronicles the success of our organization, and the torch that lights the way for our young children who will follow us into our noble mission.

Legacy is a beautiful foundation. It is in our hands and let us keep it aglow. Let us keep the torch burning and brighten the horizons beyond the confines of our association.

It is the nobility of our objectives, and the generosity of our members, their families and donors that make service to this association both for my husband and me, an extraordinary honor and privilege, and are indeed appreciative of the confidence and support we continually receive from you. Let us join together and work hard to a more successful 2011 for all

Greetings!

It has been truly an experience leading our association for almost a year now. Our hard work is a resounding success that transformed joy immensely beyond words. Our association has emerged and blossomed to an organization dedicated in promoting our culture, social well-being, and active charitable involvement.

Allow me to review what we have achieved corporately as an organization. We have remained strong and grateful that we can share the vibrant spirit of participation and volunteerism in the community.

Here are a host of highlights in 2009 that I would like to share with you.

1. Our Philippine Cultural Heritage Festival on October 3 was a huge success and has brought social awareness to people of different ethnicities for a better understanding and appreciation of the Philippine culture that perpetuated its richness in the community.

2. We granted 7 scholarship awards to our high school graduates which is one of the many objectives of the association.

3. We participated in the Veteran's Day Parade on November 11 to honor, and appreciate our Vietnam veterans.

4. On December 12, we participated in the 47th Annual Killeen Christmas Parade and won 3rd Place in the Best Non-profit Category.

5. We have graciously donated to the Katrina Calamity Assistance Fund, the Philippine Disaster fund, and gave charitable contributions to under privilege children through Bantay Bata and the Gawad Kalinga projects. We are proud of the difference we make in the world.

6. Our Fil-Am folk dancers performed and promoted our cultural heritage in various activities such as the Chinese New Year celebration in Austin, Asian Pacific month at Post Exchange Ft. Hood, LULAC Cinco de Mayo Festival in Killeen, Asian Pacific Heritage month at VA Hospital in Temple, and Asia Food fest in Austin.

As we embark the year 2010, may all of these accomplishments will continue to flourish and will serve as a reservoir of meaningful practices that we already considered our treasures at heart. The legacy of our association will continue to march on through us. Thank you for entrusting your confidence in me as your president, for your many expressions of love and kindness devoted to all our functions and celebrations this year. I am inspired and motivated to bring in new projects for growth and new opportunities that will serve to gain grounds for prosperity.

Lastly, I pray that you have a truly blessed year of 2010. May our good Lord Jesus shower us all His blessings.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

October 3, 2009

The Filipino-American Association of Central Texas is proud to present the Philippine Cultural Heritage Festival to bring social awareness, promote better understanding and appreciation of the Philippine culture and perpetuate its richness in the community. Heritage and tradition give life and vitality to hollow shell of man's affluence for beyond lie our profound identity.

Tonight, we will have a real glimpse reflecting our cultural heritage and tradition through the repertoire of songs, music and dances. These ethnic folk dances captured in their movements and translating them into the stage will help us revive, interpret and rediscover our cultural framework to be diverse and unique.

It is inspiring to see that we are united and motivated with love to dedicate this year's festivities to our children, to instill and nurture them our diverse culture and traditions to become leaders and teachers to pass on our culture from generations to come. Let me express my profound appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all the officers, members and committees for the long hours and arduous work they voluntarily spent in making this occasion a success in evey possible way.

Once again, we demonstrated our Bayanihan spirit and culture of hardworking traits. May we continue to spread our goals for unity, harmony and the beauty of our culture and heritage in the community.

To our family, friends, guests, sponsors and donors, whose wholehearted support and inspiration have made this celebration a splendid reality.

I wish you all a very enjoyable evening as we gather at this wonderful festivity.

Best regards!

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Welcome to the Filipino-American Association of Central Texas website. The reality of communicating with members is now at our fingertips. It is our objective to let our general membership know what is in store for them, so they can avail and enjoy all the benifits of being a member. It is our goal to open our own website for every member to view upcoming events and for everyone to know and learn what our organization is all about.

I have an insight about me that I want to share with everybody. Whenever anything ramarkable is transpired about FAACT, I believe that it is my duty to bring that out in paper so that all members might be informed ingenuously.

Looking back 34 years ago, FAACT was founded and organized in 1975 by a group of friends with a common goal of helping each other in time of need, providing guidance and moral support as they adopt to their new home and new country. To establish and foster harmonious relationship among members, and to preserve the Filipino image and heritage is by participating towards social and cultural activities in the community.

I'm proud of our progress, but I'm even prouder of the way we've made that progress by working together, sharing responsibility, exchanging ideas and building confidence about the future of the association. What we have done reflect a simple but very profound idea-an idea of commitment. We must always remember that our greatest strength comes not from what we possess, but from what we believe; not from what we have, but from who we are.

Let us continue uplifting the ideals and objectives of our association, so we may achieve peace, progress, prosperity and understanding paralleled to the expectation of a unified organization. Together, we can work in harmony and together we can work as one for a brighter tomorrow. Our vision of positive attitude and unfading committment to the welfare and development of our association is worth striving for.

Lastly, let me take this opportunity to congratulate and wish the newly elected and appointed officers for a very successful 2009-2011 term in office.

Best regards to everybody.
